Fruit Whiteners (And No -No's)

It is said that eating an apple a day keeps the doctor away. But who knew that an apple was nature's trick to cleanse and brighten teeth? The mild acidic nature of apples in addition to their fiber rich skin makes for a healthy substitute for other sugary processed snacks. Since apples are a crunchy fruit, they act like toothbrushes when you chew them. Crunchy foods like apples, carrots, and celery can actually scrub away stubborn stains over time. Even if you are eating an apple a day as an in between meal snack, it is still a good idea to brush afterward. If you can't brush, at least swallow down a glass of water to wash away any sugar, acid or plaque that has been removed from your enamel.

If you've ever heard of using lemons or strawberries to whiten teeth think again! Although they may whiten teeth, using these fruits to whiten teeth will cause your teeth to decay! So stick with whitening toothpaste with fluoride to keep you teeth healthy. Be sure to check with your dentist about the best teeth whitening solution!
